Bike advocates oppose changes

Those roads are built for automobiles.  Bikers are just guests.  Equal access for them is not feasible.

Bike paths are built for the bikers (no cars allowed there!)   Riders should use them only for recreational purposes.

If a biker has an important task to perform, like going to work or school, and must use an automobile designated road, OK.  Do it.  But be careful.  Don't assume special rights. 

A 2000 pound car is pretty scary when moving close to a biker at 30 or 40 mph.  That's just the way it is.  Motorists can't make it comfortable unless they stop the car...which isn't going to happen.

Motorists do not want to injure bikers.  They do take care.  Just as they do with pedestrians. But they can't just pull over and stop when they see a biker or pedestrian.

If you're a biker and must use the roads, do so.  But please remember:  On the roads, you are just a guest.  And you should ride that way.

Yes, its time to end that 0.1 percent farce supporting millionaires playing a kids game.  Get that bill passed, Tom Weatherston.

More road funding sought

I looks like this federal funding is borrowed money.  If so it's not going to improve the economy.  It will only make things more difficult financially in the future.

We've borrowed too much, already.

Racine County housing projects to get a helping hand from feds.

But its not "the feds."

It is amazing how oblivious Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and others insinuated in this action are to the fact that the money is coming from the taxpayers...their other pocket...not "the feds."

Manufacturing comeback

This is good news.  It seemed that the unions drove manufacturing away by keeping manufacturing wages excessively high. That's how the new coverage read, anyway.  Manufacturers left the country to avoid the expensive USA laborers.

Once manufacturers could get workers at a competitive price they could compete with foreigners and the exodus stopped.

Workers in a free country are much more reliable and capable than slave workers, so there is no problem with quality of workers for us when it comes to competing abroad.

Next step is to get our government regulatory activities under control and we can really whip some foreign manufacturing butt!

Big bills to view public documents discourage public access

There is only one way to really resolve the public's right to know and the expense of getting to know it:  get the government out of the business of regulating and protecting everyone.  Make government smaller.  Let freedom reign.

Ending prevailing wages

Slowly, slowly the unions are losing their death grip on the Wisconsin economy.  Ending prevailing wage laws for government contracts won't mean lower taxes.  Bureaucrats will spend it all anyway.  They will finish up more of their dreams. 

But it opens the door a little wider to more freedom and, eventually, lower taxes.

Ryan open to toll law change

Actually all roads and repairs should be funded by motorists through tolls, license plates, registration fees, gasoline taxes and other vehicle related activities.  There should be no one else taxed for road expenses including property owners through property taxes.

On the other hand, motorists, through their vehicle taxes, should not be funding such things as busses and commuter rail...or other oddities such as schools.

Business leaders favor bill.

Right-to-work adoption into law is a no brainer for those who feel the right to contract exists.

Caledonia schools vote a go

Maybe if the Caledonia voters vote to pursue a separate school district in a landslide it will wake up Unified to the fact that $135 million in referendum money hardly means a thing.  Parents want schools that educate kids.  Nice new buildings and well paid staff really aren't that important.

Union Grove rejects apartments

I sort of like TIF districts.  What it does is allow the owner of the property to improve his property, then use the increased taxes generated by the improvement to pay off the loan for the improvements.  I just think it should be available to everyone, even homeowners.  Not just big businesses projects.

RAMAC's Ladwig IDs goals

One of Ladwig's goals should be to get RAMAC off the government dole.  RAMAC should be funded entirely with membership dues from private companies.  Getting government money causes a RAMAC conflict of interest.

Villages explore leaving Unified

State law needs to be changed to allow communities to pursue better educational systems.

Homeless solutions elusive

Get the government money out of the system, reduce taxes, let business thrive and the homeless solution will come about.  Affluent societies don't have people dying on the street.

Interesting that none of the 2800 people signing up for rent assistance here in Racine County had trouble providing the required government-issued picture ID.

Help for area homeless vets

Being a vet I definitely want to help out with this project.  But this is only a stop gap measure.  The best thing we could do for our veterans is to provide them a healthy economy where they could find a job if they want one.

This appears to be another disastrous try an rescuing a country from its own government.  That is futile.  A people must take responsibility for their own government.

Who is Responsible for a county's growth?

The RCECD proposes to be responsible for economic growth in Racine County. However, they cannot do it, nor can any governmental entity perform such an operation.

What a group that took responsibility for a county's growth would do would get every bit of governmental control of economic activity abolished and leave the private sector alone to perform as best it can in the field of business.

And if that group were successful, you would see—by today's standards—business miracles performed.

If I were taking money from the workers under false pretenses, I would be paranoid too.
